Services for Student Athletes provide advising and academic support services for any student listed in the most recent SSA student status report. For questions regarding eligibility contact SSA or sport advisor.

Mandatory Attendance is required for tutor and structured study appointments! Students will be charged $10 per missed tutor session and $5 per missed structured study session for an UNEXCUSED reason.

***We review any missed academic appointment with the measurement of whether the reason for missing would be an excuse to miss practice or a competition. So students should consider if the reason for missing a tutor would work for missing practice.

***We understand things happen (i.e. car/home break in) that warrants consideration. We will handle every situation on a case-by-case basis.

  • Student does not show up and there is no prior notice
  • Student shows up more than 10 minutes late
  • Student notifies tutor, SSA or advisor with or without adequate notice
  • Student is traveling for competition
  • Student is sick or recovering form a medical procedure (We will need verification)
  • Family Emergency (We will need verification)

Students are expected to be on time for all sessions. Students will be marked as late if they show up within the first 10 minutes (5 minute grace period). If students consistently show up late, a charge may be applied. If a student shows up more than 10 minutes late there is a one-time grace period of not being charged. Thereafter a charge will be applied for being grossly late and a no show will be noted.

If a student is too sick to attend a tutor appointment they must notify their tutor, advisor and see a trainer. If a student does not check in with a trainer/doctor the missed appointment will be deemed unexcused and student will be charged.

Appointments should only be rescheduled (temporarily) if a tutor or student misses for an excused or unexcused reason. Students are not allowed to reschedule tutor appointments for their convenience. The “I don’t have anything to do” excuse does not warrant rescheduling an appointment. Students must still show up.

Permanent changes to tutor schedules should be addressed with the students advisor, not the tutor or tutor coordinator. Advisors must approve permanent changes to tutor schedules. Students are responsible for making the appointments on their schedule.

If a student is too sick to attend a tutor appointment they must notify their tutor, advisor and see a trainer. If a student does not check in with a trainer/doctor the missed appointment will be deemed unexcused and student will be charged.

Students are expected to show up to all tutor appointments prepared with relevant books, notes, and handouts.

Students are expected to be productive, attentive and respectful during tutor sessions.

Cell Phones
  • Cell phones must be silent and stored during any session with a tutor, learning specialist, or advisor.
